About Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church
--------------------------------------------------------------

Ethiopia, the land of Judeo-Christianity, is one of the most ancient predominantly Christian countries of the world. It is marked with a fascinating history, unique civilization, culture and religious life. The Book of Genesis recounts: “And the name of the second river is Ghion: the same is it that compasses the whole land of Ethiopia” (Geneses 2:13). The Psalmist David also says: “Let Ethiopia hasten to stretch out her hands to God” (Psalms 68:31).

Children's Ministry

Welcome

Welcome parents! The St. Mary Children's Program offers a safe, loving, and engaging environment where our children can learn the foundations of our Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo faith. Our dedicated volunteers are committed to partnering with you to nurture your child's spiritual journey.

Our Mission

Our mission is to equip and empower families to live their Orthodox faith joyfully and intentionally. We provide resources for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service, fostering a community where families can connect, learn, and grow together.

Little Disciples (Ages 6-9):

At this early stage, our young children are introduced to the foundations of faith through Bible stories, songs, simple prayers, and lessons about Saints and Church Feasts.

They learn about love, kindness, and the importance of prayer in a joyful and engaging way.

Activities include storytelling, crafts, and songs that help them begin to build a personal connection to God and the Church.

Young Servants (Ages 10–13):

As their understanding deepens, this group begins to take an active role in Church life.

They participate in junior choir, assisting in children’s programs, and learning about liturgical practices.

Lessons focus on faith in action, Church traditions, the lives of Saints, and developing good character.

Through service and teamwork, they grow in responsibility and spiritual maturity.

Youth in Faith (Ages 14–18):

Our older youth are guided to strengthen their personal faith and relationship with God.

This group focuses on spiritual discussions, mentorship, community service, and leadership opportunities within the Church.

They explore how to live their faith in everyday life, serve others, and prepare to become active and committed members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
Through fellowship and mentorship, they are encouraged to be examples of faith to the younger children.

Our Commitment to Safety

Your child's safety is our highest priority. All our Sunday School teachers and volunteers have passed a formal screening and background check process. We follow a strict check-in and check-out procedure to ensure all children are safe and accounted for.
